Believe it or not, I had never come to any of Milan Design Week events before yesterday, no matter I have been living in Italy for almost four years. Either it is the original Salone Del Mobile at Rho Fiera Milano (that will be the site of Expo 2015 too) or Fuori Salone (the other exhibitions held outside Rho Fiera Milano), I weirdly never had the desire to attend any of those.
And yesterday, on Sunday, April 19, 2015; which was also the last day of Milan Design Week 2015, that was the my first time being at one of its Fuori Salone exhibitions.
And you know, first experience is always good. I visited the Fuori Salone exhibition held by Nendo, a company from Japan; and the exhibition was organized at Museo della Permanente near Piazza della Repubblica in milan.
I will now share with you some photos that I captured there. P.S. sorry I just had to join the photos or there would have been too many to post here.
I understand that I’m not one of the experts in design. But well, by looking at the detailed explanations on each designed object there, I could see they indeed had shown some of masterpieces made by professional designer.
As you can see, the Japanese dining utensils above will be exhibited later at the Japanese Pavilion in Expo 2015. The designs and types express the traditional custom and tradition of the Japanese when they consume their dishes.
The designs of these furnitures are absolutely unique. In addition to the uniquely designed furnitures, there is also the spectacular creativity that had the idea to display how the rain falls to the earth, how the rain falls when it is Autumn, when rain falls to the grass or even, when the rain pauses. They are beautifully expressed inside the bottles seen below.
I believe it really takes high creativity to be a designer and to be an expert in design. You must know how to innovate, how to create something different and unique or how to design at least something very rare to be able to engage more people in understanding your work.
And of course, making stunning design takes great amount of hard work in trying both to express your ideas well and also to entertain people who will come to see the works at the exhibition.
So this is my story at Milan Design Week 2015. I did enjoy my first time at one Fuori Salone 2015, no matter the visit was unexpected and spontaneous after a meeting and no matter the visit was done without full desire to enjoy at the beginning before the entrance.
But after this, I surely will come to the next Milan Design Week 2016 and its Fuori Salone exhibitions (under the condition if I’m in Italy of course). As now the Milan Design Week 2015 edition was done, let’s now head to the upcoming global event then, Expo 2015 with its crucial theme, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
Hope to see you there too! 🙂
